Tournament Prep Class! Open to students competing in sparring at the tournament

Friday, Sep 11, 5:45 PM

Come learn what it takes to win matches in point break sparring, including full rule set, and actual sparring practice.

Two minutes. One point at a time.

The tournament is coming fast, and I want to make sure everyone who’s competing is truly ready. That’s why we’re running these specialized sparring prep classes. You won’t get match-ready sitting at home wondering what continuous sparring actually feels like. You get there by doing the thing… for real!

What is point break sparring?

When competing in point break sparring, students will spar for 2-minutes, or until a competitor reaches 5 points. Students will attempt to score points by landing punches and kicks to legal target areas. Judges will stop the match to call points. The clock does not stop, unless the regular process/flow of the match is interrupted due to safety concern or gear malfunction.
The round ends when a competitor gets awarded 5 points, or whomever has more points at the end of the 2 minutes.

This competition is scored on a modified double elimination bracket. Each competitor will spar at least twice before being eliminated.

What we’ll work on

🥋 Scoring consistent, clean strikes

🥋 Reading your opponent’s patterns and adapting in real time
