What are Sparring Combos?
Combos are partner drills where you practice your strikes and defenses up close, without making contact.
They help you develop proper distance, blocking technique, and defensive movement to prepare you for free sparring at Orange Belt and above.
White Belt Combos
Combo #1
Punch Defense
Partner attacks with a Jab
1. Lead hand high-block
2. Cross (Back hand punch)
3. Back leg front kick
Combo #2
Side Kick Defense
Partner attacks with a front leg side kick
1. Slide back, cover guard
2. Lead hand back fist
3. Front leg side kick
Combo #3
Front Kick Defense
Partner attacks with a front kick
1. Step to 45 degree angle, reverse low block
2. Back leg outside crescent kick
3. Front leg side kick
4. Lead hand knife hand
Yellow Belt Combos
Combo #1
Punch Defense
Partner attacks with a Jab
1. Step forward outside block (lead hand)
2. Backfist
3. Front leg round kick
4. Spin side kick

Side Kick Defense
Partner attacks with a front leg side kick
1. Slide step back, cover guard
2. Back leg front kick / round kick
3. Lead hand hook punch
4. Cross (Back hand punch)

Front Kick Defense

1. Step to 45 degree angle, Reverse outer forearm block
2. Back leg double round kick
